The accredited version of the Manual (available to download below) wiil be passed on to the 22 eircom League clubs.
The other National Associations who have had their Manuals accredited by UEFA are Macedonia, Georgia, Iceland, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Serbia and Montenegro (formerly Yugoslavia).
The FAI Club License is part of the UEFA Club Licensing System that is being introduced across Europe. The FAI Club Licensing Manual sets standards in five areas, which are sporting, infrastructure, administration, legal and financial. A club must meet the specified criteria in order to be issued with a FAI Licence in February 2004, and therefore be granted admission to compete in the eircom League and UEFA competitions.
The objective of the FAI Licensing assessments is to ensure that the same criteria apply equally to all clubs and to establish a relationship of trust between UEFA, the FAI, the eircom League and the clubs. The decision as to awarding the licenses will be taken by an independent and expert body.
